FAQs

What does USB-C PD Mean?

Power Delivery (PD) is a protocol specification that allows for fast, flexible and safe charging. This technology allows a variety of devices to fast charge over a common USB-C connection and allows both to negotiate the most efficient and safe settings.

How fast is fast?

The Charge PD series utilizes both USB-C PD and also Quick Charge 3.0 protocols. That means you can charge at up to 18W using the type C port and up to 15w using the type A port. A standard USB port will only deliver 5W -- this means you can generally charge about three times faster using our powerbank.

How does the laptop charging differ from a wall outlet?

If your computer is not in use, Charge PD will fill up your laptop's battery similar to how you might experience from a wall. However, if you are using your computer while simultaneously charging via the Charge PD, you will essentially see your battery life extended, but you may not see the battery icon fill up. This is because at 18W, you will likely be refilling at the same speed as your real-time consumption. Wall chargers enable laptops to draw higher amounts of power, which is how are you are able to refill your laptop to full while using in real-time.

How long does it take to recharge Charge 80 PD?

Approximately 5 hours by 18W USB-C PD

Can I take Charge PD into cold environments?

Yes, the approved operating temperature of the Charge PD series is -4F to 104F (-20C to 40C).

Is Charge 80 waterproof?

No, we found most users are not charging sensitive electronics in rainy or wet conditions and like the easy access of the open port design. However, we do know that these can take a tumble out of a bag or off a table, so all Charge PDs are drop tested for real-world durability.

I've been using this charger for a few years now and it works great. I initially purchased it for when I'm camping off grid. But have been using much more frequently as it is more reliable then other power banks I have.

Long lasting charge

I love my Charge 80PD. I bought it when I knew I'd be at a group campground on Lake Kabetogama (in Voyageurs National Park) for four days, and I knew how much my cellphone at the time would drain other power banks. It handled the four days easily, with charge left over.

I routinely use it while camping and on road trips. It lasts for a week or more when just charging my phone. I will also use it to charge USB lights, which I have a ton of. It is seriously my best charger.

This is a great power bank. It's a little heavy but with all that power I assumed it would be heavy. It works great and does not get hot while charging.

A great purchase

My new Charge 80 powered my devices well on a recent international trip and as a back up charger for my voice recorder during a recent (important) interview. Easy to use and an amazing back up and you really need it to keep your devices alive and working.

Convenient charger

Works well. Haven’t had to use it for any extended period of time yet—but has worked well enough to charge/power phones, AirPods & MacBook Pro for short periods. Will see how it holds up once I get into busier travel season.

Awesome backup charge

It charges relatively quickly at a wall outlet, and charges my devices wicked fast. The 80 PD handles my phone charging easily with plenty of charge left from a full charge. Perfect supplement to my home system while I'm in an off grid cabin and can use public outlets to keep the Charge 80 PD charged.

Perfect Travel Support!

I have been using my Charge 80 PD daily for 18 months! I have traveled to Iceland with it & kept our 2 iphones and ipad charged for all the pics and research. I take it camping & it keeps my phone running for 4 days. On my daily charging, by my side, at my convenience. I recharge the 80PD periodically, so it is ready go when needed. A perfect life tool! I have even dropped it on bare concrete from 4+ feet up with no issue (other than my momentary panic & a slight discoloration on near a corner - see pic) I am shopping for a second unit for my wife & and highly recommend these to anyone concidering them!
