FAQs

Can I leave AlpenGlow outside overnight?

Keeping it outside overnight at your campsite is totally fine. AlpenGlow is IPX4 rated, which means it can handle dew and rain. For best protection against the elements, keep the ports securely closed with the rubber doors. We recommend bringing it inside during freezing temps for best care of the internal battery.

What are the color temperatures of the Cool and Warm settings on AlpenGlow?

Cool White Lantern is 5700K, Warm White Lantern is 2700K

How long does it take to recharge?

Approximately 3 hours.

How do I get to candle flicker or party mode setting?

Give it a shake! For candle mode, shake it on the warm white setting. For Party mode, shake it on the static multicolor setting.

Can I control how fast the colors cycle through?

Yes! When on dynamic single color (when the lantern is auto-cycling through one color at a time) or dynamic blended color (same but the lantern is a combo of colors), if you press and hold the top button, the lantern will briefly flash GREEN, YELLOW, RED: these correspond to [3] different speeds, green being the fastest and red being the slowest. Release your finger from the button on the color that represents the speed you want and AlpenGlow will adjust to that tempo.

How do I know how much battery is left?

There are four small LEDs at the bottom of the unit that indicate battery percentages. When you are approaching empty, your unit will go into Low Power Mode: it will flash four times and then switch to low brightness on warm or cool white (no other modes accessible). In Low Power Mode, AlpenGlow will provide an additional 1 hour of light. To exit Low Power Mode, recharge your unit.

Fantastic Product!

You cannot go wrong with these lights. I recently purchased our 12th AG500 as they were on sale. I have four that are 5 years old and still hold a great charge and work as new. Highly recommended!

8th wonder of the world

Gifted the AG500 to my niece for her 10th birthday. She enjoyed the RBG color modes, loved the multi color Alpenglow mode, but when I showed her how to change the colors by shaking it, she lost her mind! She ran around the house showing her family how she can change colors simply by a wave of her hand. After a while I was getting worried it might wear out or break but an hour later it was still going strong! Great quality product that made her uncle the best gift giver ever...How we going to top that next year BioLite???

Ohh this is delightful. Love the color Spectrum . Nice to hang out side on the Airstream Awning arms. So I remember that I have to pay attention where I walk.

Great option for our Hiace conversion

We had one of these lights for camping. We we finished our Hiace van conversion, we decided to get a second one so both of us could read at night. We were able to hang them on rails over our sleeping area and read before bed. They provide great light and rarely have to be recharged. I can highly recommend these lights.

Great all around light

Purchased originally for our RV when dry camping. Loved it, but now use it in our home when I just need a little more light while reading or soaking in the tub. Also, great for power outages. All our kids already received these as Christmas gifts. Love them!

long lasting!

I purchased one of these about five years ago and it's still going strong. In addition to camping and power outages, I use it every day around the house. At night I prefer lamps with warm lighting rather than overhead lights, and this is perfect to use as a bedside light, in the bathroom, or when I'm doing some last minute dishes before bed. And the colorful settings are so fun! The first one I got had an issue, and Biolite replaced it immediately, so great customer service too.
