I have used it with my FirePit but I mostly use it when grilling while camping. I have a wood pellet grill and a regular grill that can generate enough heat to burn a picnic table or our fold up table. I always use the FireMat under whichever grill I'm using to protect the table. I've even used the FireMat has a heat shield between the grill and our camper once when the only level ground I had for grilling was to close to the camper exterior.
